GameStop Corp. is expanding again, this time to New Zealand, where the entertainment software retailer has acquired The Gamesman, that country's largest independent gaming chain.
The acquisition will bring GameStop's total number of New Zealand stores to 38. GameStop has more than 5,400 locations worldwide under the GameStop and EB Games brands.
“Both companies and their staff have a passion for games, and now we can bring together the best of both retailers to offer our customers the finest in service and products, both new and pre-owned,” said Stephen Wilson, managing director of EB Games New Zealand and Australia.
The Gamesman GM Phil McPhee added, “This move will enhance the service and experience for customers, and our staff will benefit from the support structure and career opportunities available through GameStop.”
