GameFly Debuts CG-Animated Commercials

GameFly, a Los Angeles-based online video game rental service, launched two commercials consisting entirely of computer-generated animation created to mimic the breadth of games available through GameFly's service.

The commercials, created by marketing ideas agency Wongdoody and visual effects agency Zoic Studios, contain no live action and are inspired by the video game environments of military simulation, role-playing games, racing and old-school side-scrollers. The ads, viewable at www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv1ixB97zJo, will begin airing May 16 on TV networks such as Comedy Central, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, Spike TV, MTV, Current TV, FX, G4 TV, the Science Channel and ESPN2.

“We were able to create commercials that not only educate about how the GameFly service works, but appeal to a broad range of consumers as we highlight the most popular game genres, from the latest shooter to old-school favorites,” said GameFly CEO David Hodess.
