Battlestar Galactica: Season One debuts on HD DVD Dec. 4.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the first season of the new “Battlestar Galactica” TV series on HD DVD Dec. 4. Orders are due Oct. 30.

The cult-favorite science-fiction show depicts a fleet of space-faring humans searching for Earth after their home colonies are destroyed.

The $99.98 six-disc set includes the original 2003 miniseries and the 13 episodes from the 2005 debut season, with episode commentaries, deleted scenes and all the featurettes from the DVD version.

Exclusive to the Battlestar Galacitca: Season One HD DVD collection will be “Encyclopedia Galactica,” an interactive guide to the series' spaceships, characters, locations and tactics. Also included is a picture-in-picture behind-the-scenes look at the miniseries.

The fourth and final season of “Battlestar Galactica” is slated to debut on Sci Fi Channel in January, according to producers. First up, however, is the special “Galactica” TV movie Razor, which airs Nov. 24 on Sci Fi Channel, and hits DVD Dec. 4 (prebook Oct. 30) at $26.98. The DVD version includes the unrated director's cut of the two-part episode, which tells a flashback story concerning the adventures of the Battlestar Pegasus, which played a key role in the show's second season.
