Fox, Uni Revisit Classic Adventures, Dramas

In May, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment each will bow a slew of classic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Fox May 1 releases The Tyrone Power Collection, featuring some of the actor's best-known adventure films in a five-disc set at $59.98 or individually at $19.98. The Black Rose (1950) has a Tyrone Powers biography, photo gallery and trailer; Blood and Sand (1941) has a commentary by cinematographer Richard Crudo and a restoration comparison; Captain From Castle (1947) has a commentary with film historians, the featurette “The Leading Ladies,” a photo gallery and a trailer; Prince of Foxes (1949) has an isolated score and FX track, a “Movietone News” featurette, a photo gallery and a trailer; and Son of Fury: The Story of Benjamin Blake (1942) has an isolated score, photo gallery and trailer.

Universal May 8 streets The Pirates of the Golden Age Movie Collection, featuring four films on a two-disc set at $26.98. The films include Against All Flags (1952), starring Errol Flynn; Buccaneer's Girl (1950), starring Yvonne De Carlo; Yankee Buccaneer (1952), starring Jeff Chandler; and Double Crossbones (1951), starring Donald O'Connor.

Universal also will release a line of digitally remastered classics May 22 (prebook April 17) at $14.98 each. Titles include Scarface (1932), starring Paul Muni; No Man of Her Own (1932), staring Clark Gable and Carole Lombard; So Proudly We Hail (1943), starring Claudette Colbert and George Reeves; and Unconquered (1947), starring Gary Cooper and Paulette Goddard.
