Fox to Release TV's “The Simple Life” on DVD One Week After Series Finale17 Dec, 2003 By: Holly J. Wagner
With copies of an unauthorized sex video still circulating on the Internet, socialite Paris Hilton has another video headed for a Jan. 20 release: the first seven episodes of “The Simple Life” from Fox Home Entertainment, streeting just a week after the season finale.
The outrageous series from Bunim-Murray Productions and 20th Century Fox Television chronicles Hilton and gal pal Nicole Ritchie's adjustment from the bright lights and big city to natural time and smalltown life in Altus, Ark. (population 817).
The series is Fox's No.1 show among adults 18 to 49. Hilton and Ritchie make waves as this provocative fish-out-of-water series unfolds, from cleaning chicken coops and pumping gas to hitting the town and picking up guys.
Along with all seven episodes from the first season, the disc features outtakes, gotta-see-it-to-believe-it unaired footage and more. The pampered princesses find out what it's like to clean tables, not dance on them; extract milk from cows, not just drink it; and everything in between.
Fox Home Entertainment will support the release with a targeted print, online and radio buy, and an extensive publicity campaign. In addition, in-program advertising and a toll-free DVD order number promotion will air during the final episode.
The DVD is available just a week after the season finale (prebook Dec. 24) for 14.98 U.S./$17.98 Canada.
