20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will distribute The Passion of the Christ from Mel Gibson's Icon Productions on home video, a studio spokesman has confirmed. “We're in the final stages of a deal. We will be distributing it domestically,” the spokesman said.
The movie raked in $125.2 million over five days, the biggest debut ever by a film opening on a Wednesday, sparking renewed interest in religious-themed films.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested March 3 in Pennsylvania after state police found more than 1,500 bootleg CDs, DVDs and videocassettes, including a couple dozen copies of Passion, during a traffic stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to published reports.
