Fox has chosen professor Helen Hoffer to help with educational family films.

20th Century Fox and MGM Home Entertainment have chosen Helen Hoffner, a professor at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, to serve as the expert on closed captioning for literacy for a new line of educational family films.

Fox/MGM July 10 launched 11 feature-length films on “Follow Along DVD,” which features colorful karaoke-like captions to encourage viewers to read while watching.

Hoffner's research shows that captioning not only benefits the hearing impaired, but also viewers who are learning to read and those who are learning English.
