Adult film producer Vivid Entertainment Group has signed a deal that will have Larry Flynt Publications (LFP) distributing Vivid's video and DVD product in the U.S.
LFP will manage and control warehousing, sales, shipping and other distribution related duties for Vivid in a multiyear deal for which terms were not disclosed.
The deal has the added benefit of letting Vivid devote more resources to its core business producing new films, as well as to growth areas such as its Internet sites and the company's international arm, which includes the licensing of rights for wholesale distribution and establishment of broadcasting joint ventures outside the U.S., Vivid president Bill Asher said.
"We are very pleased to be associated with a company that over the last quarter century has established itself as one of the top adult entertainment corporations," he said. "We are delighted that we will now be able to concentrate our efforts on production, overseas operations and the Internet. This is the perfect opportunity to do so."
Beginning August 1, LFP will assume responsibility for sales and distribution of approximately 80 new Vivid feature productions a year, Vivid's new compilations and a library of more than 1,000 titles. Both Vivid's national sales manager Howard Levine and Vivid Interactive national sales manager Jim Monroe will join LFP in the deal.
"This transaction will benefit both Vivid and LFP and will make both companies even stronger,” LFP president James Kohls said. “We at LFP are looking forward to working closely with Vivid to expand both of our current businesses."
