Fitness Guru Reaches for Starz

Fitness superstar Leslie Sansone is power walking over to Starz Home Entertainment.

Sansone has teamed with Starz for the distribution of all her new fitness properties as well as a new series under production titled “Walk Slim.” The first installments will arrive in June.

Sansone's “Walk Away the Pounds” DVD titles have been consistent top sellers for prior distributor Gaiam/GT Media.

More than 10 million units of Sansone products have been shipped from infomercial and retail sales to date, according to Starz.

Sansone's very accessible cardio workouts, which often incorporate resistance training elements, are complimentary to Starz' existing fitness catalog, said company president Bill Clark.

Under the Anchor Bay Entertainment label, Starz is home to a variety of leading fitness DVDs, including the “Crunch” brand, the “10 Minute Solution” series and “Yoga Booty Ballet” titles.

Sansone brings a powerful personality brand to the mix, Clark said.

“That is what will garner maximum retail clout,” he said. “We'll be getting great placement for the product. We view fitness as a category and [Sansone titles] will be sitting side by side with our other popular series on shelves.”
