Firm Hopes Retailers Get On the Soundtrack Express

Soundtrack Express used the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Media Show 2002ot introduce its MediaQuest streaming media player, which incorporates search, play and e-commerce technologies.

The product is set up as an online search but is also available for in-store kiosks to let customers search available products.

"When it comes to sales conversion, the time variable cannot be underestimated," said Soundtrack Express president and CEO Donald Leka. "Amazon reacted early to this trend by introducing and licensing its ‘one-click' technology. While this effectively addressed the back end transactional component of the online shopping experience, the MediaQuest player addresses the entire shopping experience, from search to purchase."

The MediaQuest streaming media player integrates e-commerce functionality into the player design with a Buy Now function that links users directly to purchase options and provides sales information about digital media products.

MediaQuest runs on an Internet browser and Flash 5 without additional plugins or on in-store kiosks for brick-and-mortar retailers.

"Existing kiosks have clumsy search engines and do not enable shoppers to listen to the desired track or view the desired video," a Soundtrack Express spokesperson said. "MediaQuest introduces advanced search and media preview technology to retail stores, increasing sales conversion by allowing shoppers to find and play any track or video they're looking for."
