Filmation Flies to BCI

17 Jan, 2006 By: Brendan Howard

Hot off the success of “He-Man” multidisc releases, BCI has snagged distribution rights to Filmation's catalog, including the “He-Man” sister series “She-Ra: Princess of Power.”

The deal involved Entertainment Rights PLC, which owns the Filmation catalog, with a few live-action and mostly animated series. The animated shows include “She-Ra,” “The Legend of Bravestarr,” “Ghostbusters,” “The New Adventures of Zorro,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Groovie Goolies” and “Snow White: Happily Ever After.”

BCI has also retained Andy Mangels and Val Staples, the same DVD production consultants that helped make the “He-Man” titles fan favorites. The first “He-Man” volume won Best 1980s Series at the 2005 TV DVD Awards in October.
