Canadian animation house CineGroupe and animation giant Film Roman have formed a strategic alliance to produce high quality animated programming, the companies announced today.
The companies plan to pool their resources on a non-exclusive basis with an eye toward producing numerous projects over the course of the coming year, the first of which they plan to announce next week.
"Film Roman has always been about quality. In this business climate, productionpartnerships are more important than ever," said Peter Schankowitz, president of Television Programming and Development at Film Roman. "This alliance is a great opportunity for us to widen our audience reach and partner with an incredibly talented group of people who underscore our mission with respect to quality and are collaborative partners in the truest sense of the word."
CinegGroup properties include "Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat" and "Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension". Film Roman's claims to fame include "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill".
The relationship emerged from the combination of the companies' respective strengths in the U.S. and foreign markets providing the necessary synergy to better penetrate the animation marketplace, a spokesperson said.
"We are pleased and excited to be forging new frontiers in animation, CGI and other high tech visual imagery entertainment with such a quality partner as Film Roman," said CineGroupe Head of U.S. Entertainment Ken Katsumoto. "Our alliance offers a highly competitive and cost-effective business platform providing top-quality programming through the use of CineGroupe's creative talent combined with our studios, state-of-the-art technology and innovative methods of bringing kids' and family entertainment to a heightened level of excellence."
