Feingold Lauded as ‘DVD Visionary'

“We built this business like a rocket,” said Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment's Benjamin Feingold to a room full of video suppliers, distributors and retailers at this week's Third Annual Home Entertainment Summit in West Hollywood, Calif.

Feingold accepted the “DVD Visionary Award” honoring his pioneering role in the development of DVD as he celebrates his 10th anniversary as president of CTHE.

The quick growth and popularity of DVD had more to do with hard work from many in the industry than lucky timing, he said. And though new technologies are on the doorstep and digital delivery of content edges closer, the future of packaged home entertainment is still bright, he added.

“The $25 billion we're doing right now is just the beginning,” Feingold said. “The reality is you can't fight people's love to buy at retail.”

“[The future] is all about dreaming, executing and having an ear to the ground when it comes to consumer behavior,” he said.
