Movie fans anxious to own a copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring demonstrated their fealty in the first full day of preorder sales for the film at Amazon.com's DVD store, vaulting the title to the No. 1 preseller.Although not scheduled for release until Aug. 6, preorder sales hit No. 1 on the bestseller list within hours of becoming available for preorder last Friday and has remained in the top spot since, a spokesperson said.The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring sold more units on its first day of preorder availability than other highly anticipated films including; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and The Matrix. Only Gladiator sold more units on the first day of preorder availability. Rings' success isn't limited to DVD. The film is the No. 6 bestseller at the online retailer's video store, the spokesperson said.
