Manufacturer-to-dealer sales of DVD products increased during October and heading into the holiday selling season, according to figures released today by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).
Factory-to-dealer sales of stand-alone DVD players reached nearly 2.5 million units for the month of October, an increase of 46 percent compared with the same period in 2002. Sales of TV/DVD combinations increased 242 percent from October 2002, with sales of 107,656 units.
Year-to-date sales remain strong, with totals for stand-alone DVD players up 25 percent compared with 2002, at more than 15 million units. TV/DVD combination year-to-date sales total more than 1.1 million units, representing an increase of 254 percent compared with the same period in 2002.
