The Latino-themed drama ESL will premiere Jan. 10 at the Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif. The special screening will be followed by a Q&A session hosted by Wilmer Valderrama (The Dead One, “That ‘70s Show”) with director Youssef Delara and actress Maria Conchita Alonso (Moscow on the Hudson, Predator 2, Return to Babylond, Chasing Papi).
Allumination FilmWorks will release the film on DVD Feb. 12 for $29.98. The film will air on Showtime in March.
The film stars Kuno Becker (Goal!), Danielle Camastra (King Rikki, Price of Glory) and Alonso. It tells the stories of Bolivar (Becker), a struggling Mexican immigrant, and Lola (Camastra), a spoiled Mexican-American, whose vastly different worlds collide first in a car accident then later in an ESL classroom. The drama explores immigration and acculturation issues for Mexicans in the United States and has been lauded at film festivals around the country.
