Entertainment Rights Nabs 'Tinga Tinga Tales'

26 Jun, 2008 By: Carrie Widder

Entertainment Rights has secured worldwide distribution rights to the new animation series “Tinga Tinga Tales,” from Tiger Aspect Productions in association with broadcasters CBeebies in the United Kingdom and Playhouse Disney in the United States.

The show incorporates traditional storytelling with African artistry. The series focuses on adapting animal tales from African folklore and bringing them to life through the perspective of Africa's many distinct animals, led by a spirited monkey. The series, targeted towards preschoolers, will use African color, pattern and music, and the animation will be based on the legendary Tinga Tinga art of Tanzania, painted by local artists and then transformed into computer animation.

Tiger Aspect has set up an animation studio in Kenya with hopes of delivering episodes by fall 2009, with 50% of the profits going toward improving the educational needs of children in East Africa.
