EMA Praises Lionsgate's Loss Prevention

The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) singled out Lionsgate for praise for the studios new DVD loss prevention strategies.

Lionsgate is shipping all its new-release DVDs with both Sensormatic and Checkpoint Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) tags, a dual strategy that will decrease costs and shrinkage, according to a statement from the EMA's Loss Prevention Committee.

Members of the committee include representatives from Target, Movie Gallery, Hastings, Circuit City Stores and Blockbuster.

Those committee members “agree that source tagging is a deterrent to external theft and that delivering the product with the appropriate EAS tag to each retail location is essential,” according to a statement from the EMA.” Tagging product for both systems assures such success.”
