EMA Picks the Palms for Home Media Expo 2008

26 Nov, 2007 By: Billy Gil

EMA is hitting the Palms.

The Entertainment Merchants Association's (EMA) 27th annual Home Media Expo will be held at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Along with a new locale, the show will take place on earlier dates, from June 24-26, 2008, with a pre-show conference day June 23. The show has previously been held in July.

The Palms Hotel is one of the trendiest in Las Vegas, having housed a season of MTV's “The Real World.” It features a number of restaurants and nightclubs, as well as meeting and conference facilities.

“An industry as exciting and leading-edge as the home entertainment industry should hold its annual confab at an equally exciting and leading-edge location, and the Palms fits the bill perfectly,” said EMA president Bo Andersen. “We are excited about expanding the show to include digital delivery as well as the latest new technologies and business models for home entertainment, while celebrating the phenomenal success of the DVD and the industry that brings home entertainment to the consumer.”

The dates were moved up a month from the show's usual July time slot to better showcase fourth-quarter product, according to the EMA.

Home Media Expo invites entertainment retailers, distributors and suppliers, as well as others with a professional interest in the home entertainment industry. The show began as an annual gathering of the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA), until VSDA merged with the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association (IEMA) in 2006, coming together as EMA.

Home Entertainment Events (also owned by Home Media Magazine parent Questex Media) is producing EMA's Home Media Expo 2008.
