Edwards Cinema Launches Enhanced Filmgoing

20 Dec, 2001 By: Hive News

Edwards Theatres will open newly engineered Giant Screen Theatres in three Southern California locations--in Irvine, Ontario and Valencia--and one in Houston, Texas New Year's Day.

The newly renovated, state-of-the-art theaters feature screens more than five stories high; luxurious stadium seating provides every guest an eye-level view; and custom-engineered, 10,000-watt JBL digital sound.

They will open on New Year's Day 2002 with an extended run of a special large-format edition of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, featuring a never-before-seen animated sequence called Human Again.

"Savvy movie fans are demanding more from an evening at the cinema. Our Giant Screen Theatres are designed to provide the very best technology," said Ron Reid, c.e.o. for Edwards Theatres.

Ideally suited to present large-scale animated musical and action/adventure films, the Giant Screen Theatre's over-sized screen and crystal-clear, true-to-life sound put audiences right in the heart of a film's action. Stadium seating ensures an unobstructed view of the larger-than-life picture, and new sound engineering provides every guest, regardless of seat location, with the most pristine digital sound.

In Southern California, the Giant Screen Theatres will open in the Irvine Spectrum and Valencia Town Center complexes and in Ontario, adjacent to Ontario Mills. The Giant Screen in Houston will open at the Houston Marq*E.

Edwards operates more than 50 theatres with more than 600 screens in California, Idaho and Texas.
