Echo Bridge Acquires Alliance Atlantis7 Apr, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey
Echo Bridge Entertainment is acquiring Alliance Atlantis International Distribution, giving Echo Bridge distribution rights to more than 7,500 first-run and catalog titles. The April 4 announcement will make Echo Bridge one of the largest independents, with more than 11,000 total titles.
“This agreement marks a significant step in our aggressive campaign to further expand the company's distribution infrastructure and library of assets,” said Michael Rosenblatt, chairman, president and CEO of Echo Bridge Entertainment. “By adding this impressive roster of programming to our existing stable of product, we will greatly diversify our catalog and position the company as a leading worldwide content provider.”
Rosenblatt said the acquisition, which is being conducted through a share purchase, is expected to be completed by the end of April. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“It's an extremely exciting opportunity for us at the perfect time,” said Daniel March, EVP of Echo Bridge, who will be in charge of international program sales of the newly acquired titles.
In the United States, Echo Bridge Home Entertainment will distribute the titles with co-presidents Nate Hart and Mike Newcomb leading the way. Kevin Tannehill, head of domestic television for Echo Bridge, will be in charge of domestic TV, digital distribution and video-on-demand work.
The new titles include 91 episodes of “Da Vinci's Inquest,” 88 episodes of “PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal,” and 110 episodes of “Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict.” Movies include Hitler: Rise of Evil, Nuremberg, Haven and more.
