Eagle Rock Concerts Soar Onto Vongo27 Dec, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf
Cable giant Starz Entertainment's digital downloading concern Vongo has grabbed a slate of music content from Eagle Rock Entertainment for its subscription service.
Eagle Rock will release 38 full-length concerts from such artists as The Who, Wyclef Jean, The Doors, Alicia Keys, The Pretenders and The Cure, among others.
Several of the concerts debuted this month and more will arrive in January. Some will also be available for a $0.99 individual pay-per-view purchase.
All of the concerts also include two-year license terms to Starz Entertainment.
“Unlimited movie downloads put Vongo on the map in the broadband universe, but concerts and music video programming have proven very popular with our loyal customer base,” said Joe Cantwell, VP of marketing and advanced services for Starz Entertainment.
Vongo will bring Eagle Rock programming to a new audience, said Peter Worsley, managing director of licensing for the video and audio supplier.
Vongo subscribers can watch the downloaded programs on windows-based PCs and portable devices, and transfer the content onto a TV set. The service launched two years ago at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
