The Entertainment AIDS Alliance’s events EAAWine & Wisdom and the Visionary Awards raised nearly $113,000 this year, according to the organization.
The sixth annual Wine & Wisdom, held at the Skirball Cultural Center in June, raised $40,000 and broke records both for attendance and on-site contributions. The entertainment charity group, which says it distributes more than 90% of funds raised, said it made its largest donation to date of $50,000 to Elizabeth Taylor’s Endowment Fund, which benefits the UCLA AIDS Institute’s CARE Center.
The 11th annual Visionary Awards, held in September at the Four Season Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., honored Target and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, and raised nearly $73,000.
“Our generous 2008 event sponsors and guests made this success possible,” said David Bowers, president of EAA. “The Entertainment AIDS Alliance relies on the generosity of companies and individuals in our industry to continue our support of the UCLA AIDS Institute’s CARE Center and other worthy organizations across the country.
