DVDPlay Ups Capacity in Disc Vending Machines

19 Jul, 2005 By: Holly J. Wagner

DVDPlay has introduced its largest capacity disc vending machine to date, a model that holds 502 units in the same footprint as lower-capacity machines.

The machines deliver movies to customers in 16 seconds, half the time the old machines took. Tejas Videos, dba Quickflix, will be the first company to field the new A55 model machines. The company serves military bases and exchanges.

Previous models could accommodate 102 and 350 discs each.

Increased capacity was the main reason McDonald's cited in switching from DVDPlay to Solectron to provide its Redbox DVD vending machines.
