DVDPlanet.com Joins Yahoo Portal19 Feb, 2002 By: Hive News
Distributor Image Entertainment's e-commerce subsidiary DVDPlanet.com has begun distribution through Yahoo's shopping portal.
"We tested the Internet marketing space for a 90-day period and evaluated where our efforts were best served," said DVDPlanet.com VP Ken Crane, Jr. "Yahoo! Shopping provided us with the greatest percentage of newfound business. With the deployment of intelligent search modules and wide exposure to Yahoo's buying audience, we expect to see a definite increase in our business and overall market share."
The agreement comes as DVDPlanet marks two years of efforts to refine its customer service center and the overall shipping and fulfillment process.
"This agreement will help to accelerate consumer awareness of DVDPlanet and should have a strong impact on overall Planet sales," said Image president and CEO Martin W. Greenwald. "There are literally millions of new DVD owners, as well as millions in the installed base, who will now be much more effectively targeted. I am confident that the positive impact of these marketing and advertising initiatives will be evident by the beginning of our new fiscal year, April 1"
An Image spokesperson says the distributor has more than 1,700 exclusive DVD titles in release
