A 6% decline in DVD replication business contributed to Cinram International Income Funding posting a second-quarter (ended June 30) loss of $26.6 million, compared to a loss of $67.3 million during the same period last year.
The Toronto-based replication company manufactured 209.5 million DVDs and 97.8 million CD discs in the quarter, the latter down 18% from last year.
High-definition disc replication business, which includes Blu-ray and HD DVD, topped $4.2 million, compared to $1 million last year.
In April, Cinram acquired video game distributor Ditan Corp. to help establish a foothold in the video game replication business.
Total revenue for the quarter topped $375 million, compared to almost $400 million last year.
