DreamWorks Strikes $100 Million Deal27 Apr, 2004 By: Jessica Wolf
A deal with Japanese media group Kadokawa Holdings is fattening the coffers at DreamWorks SKG to the tune of $100 million.
The investment gives the Tokyo firm distribution rights to DreamWorks DVD product in Japan and elevates the value of the studio to around $3.5 billion, according to reports.
The Japanese company expects to make around $32 million in sales of DreamWorks product through the end of this year and another $138 million next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
DreamWorks, not a publicly traded company, is reportedly considering an IPO sometime this year for its animation division, which yielded Shrek and the upcoming Shrek 2.
