Donio Named President of NARM27 Oct, 2004 By: Kurt Indvik
Jim Donio has been named president of the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) it was announced today. Donio has been acting president of NARM since last March.
“Since Jim was appointed acting president, NARM has made progress against a number of key priorities identified by the board,” said Glen Ward, chairman of the NARM board of directors. “There has been a significant increase in membership, and Jim has overall responsibility for one of NARM's most highly rated conventions in years.”
Donio joined NARM in 1988 as director of creative services and went on to hold a variety of other leadership positions in the organization before being tapped EVP in 2000.
The announcement comes on the heels of the NARM board's decision not to collocate its annual convention with that of the Video Software Dealers Association's in 2005.
The two associations have been in merger discussions for several months, and those discussions continue, according to both groups.
