Dodgers, MLB in VOD Dispute17 Aug, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel
The Los Angeles Dodgers appear to be fending off more than National League West rivals Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres. The team reportedly received an email from Major League Baseball telling the ball club it did not have the right to launch a video-on-demand cable channel with Time Warner Cable.
Dodgers on Demand, which bowed last week, features archived game footage, interviews and trivia from the team. The channel does not broadcast actual games.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Major League Baseball believes it has control over all team Web sites and related interactive media and said it plans to review the matter further.
