Dish CEO: 'Blockbuster is All About Movies and Families'

Blockbuster LLC Aug. 9 reported partial second-quarter (ended June 30) operating income of $3.5 million on revenue of nearly $254 million. The income was the first for the Dallas-based movie rental service since being formally acquired April 26 by Dish Networks Corp.

Disney Revisiting Netflix Agreements

Speaking to investors Aug. 9 to discuss Disney’s third-quarter results, CEO Bob Iger said the studio is in discussions with Netflix and other SVOD players about licensing largely library catalog compared to new-release movies or current season TV programming.

Lionsgate Looking at New Windows

Lionsgate in December will bow yet-unreleased theatrical title 'Abduction,' starring “Twilight” actor Taylor Lautner, for a two-week period digitally priced at $6.99. The action film launches in theaters nationwide Sept. 23, and on home entertainment in 2012.
