Digital Video Trade Group Launched11 Dec, 2002 By: Hive News
Three entrepreneurs unveiled the new World Digital Video Association (WDVA) trade group today, hoping to become the new trade association for digital video professionals and consumers.
"The WDVA was formed to provide industry professionals, interested consumers and corporations a trade association specifically focused on digital video," said WDVA president Roger Strukhoff. "We will do all we can to promote growth in the use of digital video, provide research and information to our members, and provide as many benefits as possible.”
In addition, the WDVA plans to create a monthly magazine and trade show. To honor members' work during the calendar year the WDVA has created the World DiVA Award and will hold an annual event celebrating the recipients and their technical and nontechnical achievements.
"It's an exciting time in this industry. Costs to produce and distribute are falling and many creative independents will be able to take advantage to bring their vision to screens around the world," said Jeffrey S. Elkins, WDVA chairman and CEO.
