Deluxe Buys DVD Compression and Authoring Co.13 Aug, 2004 By: Jessica Wolf
DVD content production, manufacturing and packaging company Deluxe Digital Studios (DDS) has acquired Digital Video Compression Center (DVCC) from the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (Panasonic).
The combined company is the largest provider of DVD compression and authoring services in the industry. DDS will keep most DVCC employees and relocate them to DDS' new facility in Burbank, Calif., later this month. Ron Martin, senior staff member for DVCC, has been named VP of post production for DDS.
“DDS was interested in expanding its compression and authoring business, and DVCC was the perfect choice,” said Robert Seidel, DDS division head. “Demand for the highest-quality compression and authoring services keeps growing as picture quality and disc features continue to drive the DVD market.”
