DEG Promotes Blu-ray

With the format war in the rearview mirror, the Digital Entertainment Group is throwing all its weight into Blu-ray Disc, launching a Blu-ray campaign March 6 aimed at consumers, stores and the media.

“Given our success in promoting new entertainment formats, the DEG is the logical association to underscore the benefits of Blu-ray Disc to consumers, retail and the media,” said Bob Chapek, DEG chairman and president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. “As the DEG was the unified front for the support of DVD, we will also be leading the promotion of high-definition packaged media.”

The DEG aims to be the No. 1 source for Blu-ray information, with plans for consumer education materials for Blu-ray hardware and software, and wants to be the go-to organization for the media and data on Blu-ray.

The DEG's last campaign of this magnitude was for DVD.
