DEG to Meet to Elect Executive Committee, Discuss Operations29 Aug, 2003 By: Kurt Indvik
The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) board will meet this week to elect an executive committee for 2003-2004 and to consider a number of organizational issues, sources said.
Previously known as the DVD Entertainment Group, the group changed its name Aug. 1, recognizing that the home entertainment industry's future may involve a broad array of digital delivery systems. DEG president Bob Chapek, of Buena Vista Home Entertainment, made the announcement at the VSDA convention last month.
The board will meet Sept. 4 at the CEDIA show in Indianapolis. Sources said leaders will discuss the possibility of hiring a professional management firm to run day-to-day operations, as well as continued evaluation of the group's mission.
Current executive committee members are: chairman Emile Petrone, Philips Corporate Alliance Group; president Bob Chapek; VP Gary Bauhard, Pioneer Electronics; CFO Jeff Fink, Artisan; and secretary Sandy Friedman, DreamWorks.
