Dangerfield Box Set Very Respectable

7 Dec, 2004 By: Brendan Howard

Rodney Dangerfield died Oct. 5, but respect for the comedian — his “I get no respect” complaints notwithstanding — will continue on with R2 Entertainment's Rodney Dangerfield: The Ultimate No Respect Collection.

The three-DVD set streets Dec. 7 at $49.99, and the first two discs include three specials apiece that run the gamut of the late comedian's heyday in the 1980s. Disc One has the ABC specials “It's Not Easy” (1981), “I Can't Take It No More” (1983) and “Exposed!” (1984). Disc Two has the HBO shows “It's Not Easy Being Me” (1986), “Nothing Goes Right” (1987) and “The Really Big Show.”

A third disc has clips from Dangerfield's appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson as host and a “This Is Your Life” segment as well as stand-up clips from Dangerfield's private collection of footage.

The set debuted outside of stores in direct-response TV ads that began airing Thanksgiving weekend.
