Cousins Arrested for Theft of Oscar Screeners

7 Dec, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Two 22-year-old cousins were arrested last week in Los Angeles for allegedly selling and distributing electronic files of Academy Awards DVD screeners on the Internet.

One of the cousins, who worked as a receptionist at an accounting firm that received screeners on behalf of an Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences member, allegedly intercepted the screeners and gave them to her cousin.

Titles included Infamous (Warner Bros.); Little Children (New Line Cinema); Babel (Paramount Pictures); Running with Scissors and Marie Antoinette (Sony Pictures); and The Dead Girl (First Look Studios).
