Native Americans' fight to preserve their way of life against invading cultures, armies and diseases is chronicled in the Kevin Costner-produced miniseries 500 Nations, which is getting its DVD debut Sept. 21.

The four-DVD, eight-episode documentary set prebooks Aug. 20 at $59.98 from Warner Home Video.

Costner himself provides an introduction and closing remarks for the series, with other notables handling voiceover work: Edward James Olmos, Patrick Stewart, Timothy Bottoms and more.

The set's extras include “CGI Insight With Director Jack Leustig” and a collectable booklet as well as a CD-ROM that “looks further into Native American history.”
