Concurrent To Showcase VOD Tools26 Mar, 2002 By: Hive News
Concurrent Computer Corp. plans to show off subscription VOD (SVOD), Targeted and Interactive Advertising and virtual channels at the Cable 2002 Show May 6 to 8 in New Orleans, La.
Concurrent plans to highlight the value and versatility that SVOD could bringing to the broadband industry, emphasizing the trend in technology to cater to consumers' demands for convenience, choice, and control using content from Starz Encore, HBO, and Showtime.
But targeted and interactive advertising may steal the show.
With targeted advertising, neighbors watching the same TV program could see entirely different advertisements based upon demographic information stored in their respective set-top boxes, while interactive advertising could enable a viewer to have an interactive session with a commercial by pushing a button on the remote control.
The idea is to facilitate content providers offering server-based interactive and targeted advertising as incremental digital interactive services to create new revenue from and differentiate themselves from Digital Broadcast Satellite services.
Concurrent is working with technology partners like Everstream, Navic Networks and Rainbow Media to develop these new services and will provide a taste of what's to come in a demonstration at Cable 2002, a spokesperson said.
