Comcast Brings Programming to Fancast.com

Cable giant Comcast has signed on to nurture the fledgling joint venture between News Corp. and NBC Universal to create an online video distribution destination.

Fancast.com, an in-the-works Web site Comcast announced last week in conjunction with the company's acquisition of entertainment information and movie theater lookup site Fandango.com, will serve as a non-exclusive distribution portal for News Corp., and NBC Universal content on the Web.

Comcast Networks also will provide content for domestic distribution, including programming from E! Entertainment Television, Style, G4, Versus and The Golf Channel.

The forthcoming News Corp./Universal venture that will feature free ad-supported video content for streaming also will use Comcast's thePlatform software technology for media management.
