Color Me Nexpak!

In an effort to impress the jaded consumer masses inundated with humdrum packaging, Canton, Ohio-based media packaging manufacturer Nexpak is giving video companies the chance to add specialty colors on DVD, CD and VHS packaging to strengthen branding and improve on-package promotions. The cost for custom colors is priced at just pennies per unit above stock-color pricing, according to a spokesperson.

Unlike some specialty packaging, colors can be used on packaging that runs down automation, thus keeping costs down and improving turnaround times.

"Colors enhance content providers' marketing opportunities for all kinds of media packaging applications, from retail sales of DVD movie releases to promotional disc mailings," said James Peterson, VP of sales and marketing for Nexpak. "Colors create a specialty look without going to the extremes of high-cost packaging, which may also have significant lead times."

A prime example of the promotional and branding opportunities of colors is highlighted with the DVD release of New Line Home Entertainment's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Nexpak's Amaray case,which was customized using a dark metallic green color to match lithographic artwork.

Colors can be applied to almost every packaging product manufactured by Nexpak, including DVD, CD and VHS packaging.
