CinemaNow, Warner Bow Exclusive Music Video Site

12 Jun, 2007 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Electronic sellthrough co-pioneer CinemaNow June 12 announced it has re-launched a music video download site featuring exclusively through July 21 content from Warner Music Group (WMG).

The site, www.WatchMusicHere.com, introduced originally in 2005, has undergone a complete makeover and now offers more than 1,600 Warner music videos on a download-to-own basis for $1.99 each.

The music downloads also are available on CinemaNow.com.

WMG artists include Big & Rich, James Blunt, Red Hot Chili Peppers and T.I., among others.

Music from other record labels will be offered in late July.

To help promote the site, consumers who purchase a WMG music video through July 21 will be eligible to win an Archos 604 WiFi portable video player.

The music files, which can be played on select desktop, laptop PCs and portable media players, excluding the Apple iPod, are offered as a 1500K single-file download.

The single format eliminates the need to download separate music files for a PC and portable media player.

Curt Marvis, CEO of CinemaNow, said music videos represented an ideal form of short-form content and “significant growth opportunity.”

Larry Mattera, SVP, digital sales and marketing for WEA Corp. — Warner's retail sales and marketing company — said the record label was thrilled to offer its artists an increasing number of digital platforms.

A WMG representative reiterated that the music video downloads did not indicate a strategic company shift away from packaged media, i.e. DVD.
