CERTA Unveils Ratings Awareness PSA

The Coalition of Entertainment Retail Trade Associations (CERTA) has unveiled a new public service announcement to educate parents about movie, music and video game ratings and advisories. The PSA comes in concurrence with the annual Entertainment Ratings and Labeling Awareness Month.

The PSA “Read the Label” video will play in retail establishments that sell and rent entertainment products, and an audio version will air on online radio networks. “Read the Label” depicts a conscientious father haphazardly trying to determine if certain DVDs, video games and CDs are appropriate for his family, eventually noting the existence of movie and video game ratings and parental advisories for music recordings. CERTA campaigns every June to increase awareness of entertainment advisories. The organization represents about 2,000 retailers and exhibitors, operating more than 30,000 entertainment and retail establishments, and comprises the Digital Media Association, Entertainment Merchants Association, National Association of Recording Merchandisers and National Association of Theatre Owners.
