Cartoon Network Turning Comic Books Into Films

23 Jul, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey

Cartoon Network July 23 announced it is turning three comic books into movies.

“Firebreather” and “Mice Templar” from Image Comics will become feature-length animations, while IDW Publishing's “The Vanishers” will be live-action.

Distribution plans beyond Cartoon Network itself have not been decided, according to a company spokesperson.

“They are still in the early script development stages but the plan is for them to premiere on Cartoon Network first,” said company spokesman James Anderson, when asked about direct-to-DVD plans.

Cartoon Network currently reaches more than 91 million U.S. homes.
