Buena Vista Home Entertainment (BVHE) has announced dates for The Recruit, The Jungle Book 2, Wes Craven's They, The Quiet American, Shanghai Knights,
Roberto Benigni's Pinocchio,
a direct-to-video sequel to Lilo & Stitch
… and a whole lot more.
Following are Buena Vista Home Entertainment titles announced today in order of street date: May 27 (prebook April 15) comes The Recruit (VHS $24.99, DVD $29.99), the $52 million box office thriller starring Colin Farrell and Al Pacino. DVD extras include deleted scenes with optional commentary; feature commentary with Farrell and director Roger Donaldson; and a never-before-seen look at the CIA.
June 3 (prebook April 22) comes the live-action Power Rangers Ninja Storm: Prelude to a Storm (VHS $14.99, DVD $19.99).
June 10 (prebook April 15) comes the animated Disney sequel The Jungle Book 2 (VHS $24.99, DVD $29.99), which made $45.5 million in theaters. DVD extras include a behind-the-scenes featurette, deleted musical sequences, a set-top game, music videos and more. Also due June 10 (prebook April 29) is the horror film Wes Craven's They (VHS rental, DVD $29.99), which scared up $12.7 million in theaters. The DVD will include an optional alternate ending.
June 17 (prebook May 6) comes the direct-to-video horror sequel Dracula II: The Ascension (VHS rental, DVD $29.99).
June 24 (prebook May 13) come the direct-to-video kidvid Air Bud Spikes Back (VHS $19.99, DVD $29.99) and the real-life drama The Pennsylvania Miner's Story (VHS rental, DVD $29.99), about miners trapped in a coal mine for three days.
July 8 (prebook May 27) comes the Cate Blanchett starrer Heaven (VHS rental, DVD $29.99), a thriller from the director of Run Lola Run that made $0.8 million in limited release.
July 15 (prebook June 3) comes The Quiet American (VHS rental, DVD $29.99), starring Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser. The drama made $9.9 million in limited release. DVD extras include filmmaker commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, an anatomy of a scene, and more. Also July 15 (prebook June 3) comes Roberto Benigni's live-action Pinocchio (VHS rental, two-DVD set $29.99), which made $3.7 million at the box office. VHS will feature English dubbed or English-subtitled Italian, and the DVD will include both.
July 22 (prebook June 10) comes Shanghai Knights (VHS $24.99, DVD $29.99), the action-comedy starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson that took in $58.5 million in theaters. DVD extras include deleted scenes, fight scene choreography bonus footage, and more. Also July 22 (June 10) come the $1.6 million box office English-subtitled Armenian drama Ararat (VHS rental, DVD $29.99) and the second season of "Felicity" on DVD (six-DVD set $59.99).
August 5 (prebook June 24) comes the latest "Baby Einstein" title, Baby Galileo (VHS $14.99, DVD $19.99).
Aug. 26 (prebook July 15) comes Stitch! (VHS $22.99, DVD $29.99), the direct-to-video animated sequel to Lilo & Stitch. Also Aug. 26 comes the direct-to-video actioner China Strike Force (VHS rental, DVD $29.99), starring Mark Dacascos (Brotherhood of the Wolf) and rapper Coolio.
Sept. 2 (prebook July 22) comes the first season of "Alias" on DVD ($69.99). Also Sept. 2 (prebook July 22) comes Kim Possible: The Secret Files (VHS $14.95, DVD $19.99), with two episodes from the animated show, plus a never-before-seen episode.
Oct. 21 (prebook Sept. 9) comes the direct-to-video sequel George of the Jungle 2 (VHS $22.99, DVD $29.99), this time sans Brendan Fraser.
Nov. 18 (prebook Sept. 23) comes the Tim Allen comedy The Santa Clause 2 (VHS $22.99, DVD $29.99), which made $139.2 million at the box office. The DVD will come in full-frame and widescreen versions.
