Buying Group Plans Show Seminar28 Jun, 2005 By: Jessica Wolf
The National Entertainment Buying Group (NEBG) is encouraging this year's VSDA convention attendees to check out what the formerly regional group has to offer.
The NEBG has expanded its focus from retailers in New England and put the call out for membership to independent retailers from coast to coast. The group has grown to about 100 stores since then, said Todd Zaganiacz, NEBG president.
The group is sponsoring a special seminar at the Las Vegas convention July 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. All indies are invited to come and learn more about what a buying group can offer. Studio-donated prizes and $100 poker chips will be raffled off to attendees.
Over the past few years, the NEBG — and buying groups in general — have evolved from not only creating a stronger purchasing force for independent retailers, but also providing and developing marketing strategies to help keep indies on a more even footing with the big retailers, Zaganiacz said.
