Buy.com Gets 83 Percent Traffic Spike13 Aug, 2003 By: Hive News
Internet measurement firm Nielsen//NetRatings has named etailer Buy.com the third fastest-growing retail Web site for the week ending August 3, beating Wal-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond and Victoria's Secret.
Buy.com traffic leapt 83 percent, with more than 1.2 million unique visitors, during that week.
``We attribute this spike to our Back To School Superstore,'' said COO Brent Rusick. ``Dubbed 'Buy.com University,' the store features sales on everything from consumer electronics and books to sporting goods and DVDs. It's one-stop shopping for students and parents.''
Buy.com's Back To School Superstore starts shoppers off at a virtual campus, prompting them to ``mouse through our campus for great deals,'' featuring a Library, Student Center, Bookstore, Computer Lab and Dorm Room. A list of featured vendors, called ``Fraternity Row,'' highlights well known names including Microsoft, Sony, Pioneer and Jansport.
