British Grocer Grows DVD Sales

The United Kingdom's top grocery chain, Tesco, is lauding DVD.

The food retailer reported its entertainment sales increased by 50 percent year over year as of March 2002, according to British trade magazine Home Entertainment Week. VHS sales at Tesco locations have increased 3.8 percent, despite an overall 6.9 percent drop in the VHS market, and DVD sales are up 116 percent — 10 percent higher than overall market growth, the company reported.
