Blockbuster Inc. today launched a free rental with purchase program for a limited time, letting members who purchase any new movie on DVD or VHS receive a credit good for one free full-week movie rental for an eligible new release or catalog title.
The credit must be redeemed within seven days beginning the day after the new movie purchase, using the same member account at the same Blockbuster store. The offer is available at participating Blockbuster stores tomorrow through Dec. 16.
"This program provides our customers with an added bonus; not only do they get the movie they want to own, but they also get the opportunity to rent another movie for free," said Jim Notarnicola, EVP and chief marketing officer for Blockbuster. "The program also furthers our commitment to being a complete movie source for our customers, and it's a compelling offer that other mass retailers simply can't compete with."
Consumers can also take advantage of the offer when they place a deposit on a select new movie on DVD or VHS through Dec. 16. The credit will be issued when a $5 deposit is made or at the time of purchase and must be redeemed within seven days of being issued.
