Blockbuster Offers Free Kidvid Rentals to Encourage National KidsDay Support

29 Jul, 2004 By: Holly J. Wagner

Blockbuster will offer free kids movie rentals for customers who help support National KidsDay and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America with $1 donations.

For a limited time, customers will receive a coupon good for a kidvid or family non-new release (DVD or VHS) movie rental for every $1 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America at participating Blockbuster stores nationwide. Blockbuster is offering the “free rental” program to raise awareness of Aug. 1 as National KidsDay. Blockbuster, a national sponsor of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America since 1998, is one of the founding sponsors of National KidsDay, a program established in 2001 to encourage adults and children to spend meaningful time together. Blockbuster raised more than $2.4 million for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America during its 2003 promotion.

“National KidsDay is about creating opportunities for families to spend quality time together, and one great way to do that is watching a movie as a family while also contributing to a great cause," said John Antioco, who is a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America board of governors as well as Blockbuster chairman and CEO. “Blockbuster is proud to participate in such an important program as National KidsDay, which celebrates some of our favorite customers — kids — and we anticipate another successful fundraiser this year.”
