7 Jun, 2004 By: Jessica Wolf

Legendary producer/writer/director Blake Edwards will receive the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's convention in Las Vegas.

Edwards is acclaimed for his involvement in films such as Breakfast At Tiffany's, 10, S.O.B., Victor/Victoria, The Party, The Great Race, Blind Date, the “Pink Panther” series and The Days of Wine and Roses. Edwards, who is also known for his marriage to fellow screen legend Julie Andrews, received an honorary Academy Award for lifetime achievement at this spring's ceremony. The 49 films Blake has directed have grossed more than $1.5 billion at the box office.

“His incredible film career has made an enormous contribution to the home video industry,” VSDA president Bo Andersen said. “Generations of movie lovers everywhere have loved and laughed and continue to enjoy his films — whether it's watching their favorite “Pink Panther” films again and again or younger audiences now discovering his genius for the first time.”

Edwards will be presented with the award during the Opening Business Session and Awards Ceremonies of the VSDA Convention July 14 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
